Psalms 46: 1 – 3
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
Hebrews 10:23
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.
REFLECTION
When I think of a refuge, I think of a place we can run to when in trouble, distress, danger or almost losing our lives, passion in life or dreams.
When God is our refuge, we run to Him for help anytime, anywhere through prayer; We Him about everything that is ailing us, any difficult situation, any confrontation or dilemma as we feel it. He cares to listen and to guide us. He may not draw a map for us on the ground to see or even put a billboard (literally) but will redirect our desires, give a dream on what to do or how to do it, whisper a word or send the right connection/people our way.
When we ran to Him for help, He strengthens us first even before answering our prayer. You can never be weak after prayer. God will always give you new strength. Don’t just cry or think through the issues that are facing you today, pray about them, you will receive peace of mind and be able to think and see more clearly. He will even shed light on an area that you had not considered before praying.
The psalmist added, He is an ever present help in time of need; to mean He is always available when we need help. His phone is never too busy for your call to go through neither is He on lunch break not to receive your call. He is a friend who sticks closer than a brother and is not waiting for you to finish to go and tell it out.
Your answer may not come in the package you expect but with persistency in prayer He will open your eyes to see what He has provided for you.
There is a catch here, “we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountain fail into the heart of the sea, ……..” this means things may not become better immediately we put our eyes on God (pray) in fact they may worsen. this should not cause us to fear because we know who we believe in. He is a mighty God, omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent. Be strong God is coming to your rescue. Be steadfast in your faith knowing that He who promised is faithful.
PRAYER
Oh God, I thank you for your word. I thank you for the promise to be my refuge, my strength and an ever present help in times of need. I come to you for help right now. Intervene in my situation and give me peace (name what you are going through).
Help me overcome every unbelief and doubts in my heart. Even when the raging waters seem to overwhelm me help me keep the faith and turn to you for divine help and strength knowing that you are in charge.
I thank you that you are coming through for me and for sending help my way. This I pray in Jesus name, amen.
Note: If you have prayed the above prayer wipe your tears and begin praising God as you wait for your answer.
